Undivided Love was originally created as a smaller one of a kind sculpture for a friends charity. She had told me the story behind her horse therapy foundation. I wanted to surprise her with something meaningful to her. One day while heading home for work; she saw a lone horse in a field. She stopped to greet it. This turned into a daily ritual that continued for a couple years until the horses owner found out. The owner was moved by the Love they shared and gave the horse to hear. He is the horse that she started her charity with. I wanted to create the division The was once the fence in a unique and dramatic way.
This larger version, by some form of fate, has its own unique and fitting story. Upon deciding to create a large version; I went to my local horse boarding facility to look for the perfect horse. I found a horse, Lucca, with just the right personality and contacted the owner to ask permission to sculpt him. On our first session, I learned that the young owner, Marissa, had just won a battle against Leukemia that had previously left her confined to her parents home and unable to visit Lucca for seven months. To me, it seems it was not by coincidence that I chose Lucca. Sculpting the pair was a beautiful experience for all involved.
